On May 14th, the renowned expert Dr. Allan De Boos from the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) was invited to the Textile College of our university and brought a unique series of academic lectures to the undergraduates. This lecture series, with the theme of "Wool Fiber Science", aimed to deepen the students' understanding of the characteristics of wool fibers and enhance their professional qualities in the textile field.

With his extensive professional knowledge and practical experience, Dr. Allan De Boos elaborated on the origin, growth process, physical properties, chemical composition of wool fibers, and their applications in the textile industry to the students. In the report, Dr. Allan particularly emphasized the uniqueness of wool fibers, such as excellent thermal insulation, breathability, hygroscopicity, and good elastic recovery rate. He pointed out that these characteristics enable wool fibers to have broad application prospects in clothing, home decoration, and industrial textiles. Meanwhile, Dr. Allan also introduced the advantages of wool fibers in sustainable development and environmental protection, such as the biodegradability and recycling potential of wool. In addition, through vivid cases and experimental data, Dr. Allan demonstrated the performance of wool fibers in different textile processes, including spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing. He encouraged the students to pay attention to practical operations while learning theories and apply the learned knowledge to actual production.

After the lecture, the students all said that they had benefited a lot and had a deeper understanding of wool fibers. They said that Dr. Allan's lecture not only broadened their academic horizons but also aroused their strong interest in textile science. At the same time, they also look forward to having more such academic exchange opportunities in the future to communicate face-to-face with industry experts and jointly explore the mysteries of textile science.
